The truth? With all of it’s amazing health benefits and potential power, acai actually is an EXTREMELY fragile fruit! This means it has a propensity to perish really early… and is not safe (or tasty!) to eat 24-36 hours after being picked. In most cases this is not a concern, as the vast majority of acai products are made by freeze drying the pulp at the point of harvest, and then shipping this to health, wellness and nutracutical companies around the globe who package it in their purple products..:-) But occasionally… you WILL see ads or offers for “fresh” acai fruit and if there is any shipping distance involved, this is not the sort of ad or offer you want to purchase.

Some acai products are packaged with other ingredients, and occasionally, people may be allergic to the other supplements, herbs or ingredients involved. An example this would be green tea, or ginseng, or something that may be used for marketing purposes. (or even weight loss oriented acai products) For the most part though, all reputable companies will obviously advertise this, and if you know you are allergic to a specific ingredient that’s commonly found in health and wellness style products, it’s a good idea to double check before you buy!
